RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU football will celebrate Homecoming on Saturday as the Colonels host North Alabama at CG Bank Field at
Roy Kidd Stadium.
The game is presented by Coca-Cola and will air on ESPN+ with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Greg Stotelmyer, Jim Tirey, and Wes Chandler will be on the call. The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the first meeting between the Colonels and Lions.
- EKU will be hosting teams from the state of Alabama in consecutive seasons for the first time since 2007-08, when Samford and Jacksonville State visited Richmond. The Colonels hosted Jacksonville State in last year's regular-season finale.
THE COLONELS
- Eastern Kentucky is 63-22-2 all-time on Homecoming. EKU won 24 consecutive Homecoming games from 1974-97.
- The Colonels came up short against FBS-transitioning opponent Sam Houston, 25-17, on Saturday night.
- Wide receiver
Mo Edwards Jr. hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass against the Bearkats, his first of the season.
- Defensive lineman
Kelton Dawson recorded a career-high eight tackles against SHSU.
- In his first start of the season, defensive lineman
Ryan Jackson made a season-high five tackles, including one tackle for loss.
- EKU's defense allowed Sam Houston to pass for just 127 yards, the fewest yards through the air the Colonels have surrendered since holding Lamar to 77 passing yards last season.
- 44,192 fans attended the Colonels first three home games, the most over any three-game home stretch in the last 20 years.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- North Alabama dropped a 47-31 decision to Jacksonville State last Saturday.
- Running back ShunDerrick Powell ranks fifth nationally in rushing in the FCS with 122.8 yards per game.
- Powell has eclipsed the 100-yard mark on the ground three times this season and has two games with over 200 yards rushing.
- Quarterback Noah Walters has thrown for at least 300 yards and three touchdowns in each of the Lions' last two contests.
- Wide receiver Takairee Kenebrew has 13 touchdown receptions in his career at North Alabama.
