Volleyball Shut Out At North Alabama

Box Score

FLORENCE, Ala. –
EKU lost 3-0 at North Alabama on Sunday.

The Lions won by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-20.

In the first set, the Colonels closed to within one several times down the stretch, including at 23-22 on a UNA service error.  However, the Lions scored the next two points to finish off the set.  EKU closed a four-point deficit to one, 19-18, in the second set on a kill from Molly Michalak.  The visitors never got any closer as North Alabama scored four of the next five on its way to a 2-0 lead.

Anna Purichia tied the score, 17-17, with a kill in the third.  UNA answered with three straight points to build a slight cushion.  A kill off an attack from Carson Ledford got the Colonels within two, 22-20.  The Lions scored the next three points to win the set and the match.

Michalak and Sarah Mitchell finished with 12 kills each for Eastern Kentucky.  Both had double digit dig totals with 13 and 10 respectively.  Maddy Campbell had 11 kills and a .333 attack percentage.

Anna Griggs and Hayley Martin recorded 10 kills each for North Alabama (11-5, 1-3 ASUN).  Martin hit .421 while Griggs posted a .400 attack percentage.

EKU (10-8, 1-3 ASUN) had 48 kills compared to 41 for UNA, but the Lions had nine blocks compared to just one for EKU.
