Colonels Blank Kennesaw State 1-0, Advance to ASUN Semifinals

Second Consecutive Conference Semifinals Appearance

LYNCHBURG, Va. – No. 5 Eastern Kentucky soccer defeats No. 4 Kennesaw State by a score of 1-0 in the ASUN Championship quarterfinals on Thursday night at Osborne Stadium on the campus of Liberty University.

With the victory, EKU advances to the ASUN Championship semifinals in consecutive seasons as a member of the conference and will head to the semifinals with a date against top-seeded Liberty on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Second-Team All-ASUN forward Maddy Lemery hit the game-winning goal in the first half off a beautiful through-ball from Baylee Lanter, using her right boot to glide the ball past the KSU keeper in the 23rd minute.

The Lake Mary, Fla. native continued her offensive display by launching a career-high 10 shots in Thursday's contest, totaling four shots on frame and leading the program for the eighth time this season.

The Colonels held the Owls' offense scoreless despite KSU having the advantage in shots (16-15) and corner kicks (5-1).

Eastern Kentucky keeper Carly Dean saved a career-high eight shots in the contest, including four in the second half, breaking her previous record notched earlier in the season against Stetson at seven.

Mackenzie Burdick, Kaitlyn Rowlett, Lanter, and Third-Team All-ASUN defender Lucy Ream all played 90 minutes in the win over Kennesaw State.

Sunday's match against the Flames is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and will be aired live on ESPN+.
