Colonels Return Home for Two ASUN Clashes and Senior Night

Honoring 10 Seniors Prior to Sunday’s Matchup

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU soccer returns to the EKU Soccer Field this week after a three-match road swing to face FGCU on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4:00 p.m. ET and Stetson on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
 
Fans will have the opportunity to partake in two promotional matches this week, as the contest against FGCU is noted as EKU's "Pink Game" raising awareness for cancer sponsored by Baptist Health Richmond. Sunday's match against Stetson is the programs "Senior Day," where we honor 10 seniors in total for their contributions and dedication to the team.
 
As always, admission is free to the EKU Soccer Field for the duration of the season, fans not able to be in attendance can view each match on ESPN+ (subscription required).
 
The Colonels are coming off a road swing which saw the team go 1-1-1 and earn four ASUN points. As of Wednesday, EKU sits in sole possession of fourth place in the conference standings with a record of 2-1-2, 6-3-2 overall.
 
Senior Maddy Lemery notched two first half goals in EKU's 3-2 win over Austin Peay last Sunday, tying the program record for most goals scored in a single game. The Lake Mary, Fla. native entered the program's top-10 list for career goals after the performance.
 
EKU will honor seniors Lauren Seedlock, Ali Kirk, Lemery, Audrey Anderson, Rylie Jucker, Brooke Harden, Myla Sharpless, Baylee Lanter, Gabby Torrez, and Celia Lopez on Sunday.

Scouting the Eagles
-  Florida Gulf Coast head coach Jim Blankenship is in his 32nd overall season with a 429-145-39 career record, he's been with the Eagles since 2007.
- FGCU is 3-1 through four ASUN matches, only dropping a contest to first-place Liberty.
- The Eagles are coming off a 3-0 shutout of Jacksonville at home.
- With 32 corner kicks on the season, Florida Gulf Coast ranks 32nd in the country and first in the conference in that value.
- Leah Scarpelli is 14th in the country in assists per game (0.60) and 18th in total assists (6).
- Junior forward Louise Lillback leads the team in goals (4), had a season-best one goal and two assists against North Florida.
 
All-time against Stetson
- Sunday's contest is the third meeting between the two programs dating back to 2005, Stetson earned both prior results shutting out the Colonels.
 
Scouting the Hatters
- Hatters HC Chris Bergmann is in his fourth season at the helm of the program, he's collected 14 total wins. 
- Stetson will play Bellarmine, who EKU tied, before making its way to Richmond.
- SU has three student-athletes with the team lead in goals (2), 
- Junior Chloe Washington and sophomore Kyleigh Thelen combine for 27-of-68 of the teams shots on goal on the season.
- Out of Stetson's 12 games, Sarah Grimmet and Ashleigh Wise have split starts in goal, combining for 60 saves this season,
