RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU's men's basketball team will open the 2022-23 season on Monday at Baptist Health Arena against Miami-Middletown, and then host Western Kentucky on Thursday.

Tip-off against the ThunderHawks is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

THE COLONELS
- Three starters return for EKU this season –
Devontae Blanton,
Michael Moreno and
Cooper Robb.
Â
- Moreno was chosen to the Preseason ASUN All-Conference Team and was voted by fans as the Preseason ASUN Player of the Year. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals last year. Moreno was 10th in the ASUN in steals and 12th in rebounds.

- Blanton scored 11.1 points and pulled down 6.3 rebounds per game last season. Robb was second in the ASUN with 1.7 steals per game while contributing 9.6 points and 4.5 boards per contest.

-  EKU's 2022 recruiting class was ranked as high as 65th in the country by 247Sports, higher than such programs as Kansas State (68th), Pittsburgh (74th), Connecticut (75th), Georgia (81st), Oklahoma State (83rd), Mississippi State (87th) and North Carolina State (95th). It is the highest rated Eastern Kentucky class in the internet recruiting era.

-Â CBB Nation rated three Colonels among the top eight freshmen in the ASUN.Â
Leland Walker was ranked first,
Tayshawn Comer third and
Turner Buttry fourth.

-Â EKU broke the program single season record of 327 three-pointers last season, finishing with 363 made three's.

-Â Eastern Kentucky led the ASUN Conference and was 16th in the nation with an average of 79.26 points per game last season.
