EKU Travels to Northern Kentucky on Thursday

Third Straight Road Game for the Colonels

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky women's basketball continues a five-game road swing with a trip up North to face Northern Kentucky in the finale of the I-75 Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7:00 p.m. inside Truist Arena.
 
Thursday's game is set to air live on Bally Sports Ohio for regional cable television customers, the contest can also be viewed on ESPN+ for out of market viewers. Single game tickets are available on Ticketmaster.
 
Eastern Kentucky eagerly awaits Thursday's game against the Norse, which marks the first official game that Marissa Mackins will be eligible to play in since her arrival last season. Spending three seasons at Temple and North Florida, Mackins has recorded 44 games with 10-or-more points and 10 games scoring over 20 points, earning First-Team All-ASUN Honors in 2021.
 
Antwainette Walker led EKU its last time out against Miami (Ohio) with 24 points and nine rebounds in 39 minutes of action (Career-high). Walker recorded her eighth straight game in double-figure scoring in the loss.
 
With 11 points against the RedHawks, Alice Recanati has scored in double-figures in five or her last six games at point guard. Recanati led the Colonels with four assists, bringing her total to 50-of-65 (.770) games led in three years at EKU.

Eastern Kentucky Notes
- At 76.1 points per game, EKU leads the ASUN Conference and sits 50th in the country in scoring offense.
- The Colonels also lead the ASUN in made free throws and free throws attempted per game. 
- Eastern Kentucky has reached three-or-more players in double-figure scoring in 7-of-8 (.875) of games this season, including a season-high five players against in-state Midway.
- Three of EKU's four wins this season have been by over 20 points, including two 30-point wins over App State and Midway.
- With 58 rebounds against Midway the Colonels notched their highest value since the 2012 season.

All-Time vs. NKU
- Thursday's matchup is the 16th meeting between EKU and NKU, the Norse lead the all-time series 10-5.
- Last season, NKU defeated EKU by a score of 76-61 at BB&T Arena, now known as Truist Arena.
- Ariel Kirkwood led the Colonels with 18 points going 7-of-13 (.538) from the floor and added six boards.
 
Scouting the Norse
- Similar to EKU, Northern Kentucky is 4-4 (.500) on the season with non-conference wins over ASUN foe Lipscomb (101-95 3OT), Dayton (82-78 2OT), and Tennessee Tech (75-53). 
- The Horizon League has already begun conference play, NKU is already through two games going 1-1 with a loss to Youngstown State and a win over Robert Morris at home.
- Head coach Camryn Whitaker is in her seventh season at the helm of NKU, she's compiled a record of 82-97.
- Graduate Lindsey Duvall leads NKU with 20.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, she ranks 15th in the country points per game.
- At 25 free throw attempts per game and 17.6 made free throws per game, NKU ranks inside the top-12 of NCAA statistical values.
