Colonels Land 21 On Phil Steele All-ASUN Teams

RICHMOND, Ky.  EKU football placed 21 players and earn two yearly honors from the Phil Steele All-ASUN teams, it was announced today.  

Quarterback Parker McKinney was tabbed as the ASUN Offensive Player of the Year, while Payton Collins was named ASUN Offensive Lineman of the Year. 

A finalist for the Walter Payton Award, McKinney led the ASUN in every passing category. The Coalfield, Tenn., native set EKU's single-season records for completions (315), attempts (459), passing yards (3,956), and passing touchdowns (33) this season and became EKU's career leader in total offense, passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions, and attempts. Against ASUN competition, the redshirt junior threw 14 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He currently ranks third nationally in passing yards (3,956), passing yards per game (329.7), points responsible for (258), points responsible for per game (21.5), and total offense per game (359.2). He also ranks fifth in passing touchdowns (33), sixth in completions per game (26.3), and ninth in completion percentage (.686). 

Collins started all 12 games at left tackle, extending his streak of consecutive starts to 32. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Collins was part of offensive line that has helped EKU rank third nationally in passing offense per game (329.7), fifth in third-down conversion percentage (.519), 11th in scoring offense (36.2), 12th in total offense per game (451.3), 18th in red zone offense (.879), and 23rd in first downs (262). The redshirt sophomore was a key member of an offense that set EKU's single-season record with 434 points scored. 

McKinney and Collins were first-team selections and were joined on the offensive side of the ball by Cornelius McCoy and Dakota Allen. Matthew Jackson was EKU's lone first-team selection on defense and Braedon Sloan was chosen first-team all-purpose. 

Offensive second-team honors went to Jayden Higgins, Jaden Smith, and K'Rojhn Calbert. On defense, TK McLendon Jr. earned second-team accolades while Sloan was chosen as the second-team kick returner. 

EKU's third-team honorees on offense were Sloan and Tucker SchroederKelton Dawson, Eli Hairston, Jaylen Herrud, Matthew Ballentine, and John Blunt, Jr., were named third-team defensive performers, while Patrick Nations earned third-team kicker honors.

Josiah Ezirim and Vincent Munlin Jr. were chosen as fourth-team performers on offense. Ryan Jackson and Chase Lasater were fourth-team selections on defense, while Smith was tabbed fourth-team punt returner.
