EKU Softball Travels To Troy For The Troy Invitational Starting On Friday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to the Troy Invitational this weekend for five games.
 
The Colonels play two games on Friday, two games on Saturday, and one game on Sunday morning.
 
First pitch against Ole Miss is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. The Colonels then take on host Troy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday night. On Saturday the Colonels take on Nicholls at 11 a.m. followed by Ole Miss for the second time on the weekend at 1:30 p.m. The Colonels wrap up the weekend against Nicholls on Sunday at 11 a.m.
 
Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Ole Miss comes into the weekend at 4-2 after playing at the Easton Invitational. The Rebels defeated Dixie State, Colorado State, Cal State Fullerton, and California during the event. Ole Miss lost to Oregon and San Diego.
 
-Troy comes in at 4-1 after hosting the Trojan Classic last weekend. The Trojans beat Southern Illinois and Purdue Fort Wayne twice. Troy fell to College of Charleston to open the event last Friday.
 
-Nicholls enters the weekend at 1-4 after falling to No. 19 Louisiana, 10-2, in the midweek on Tuesday. The Colonels opened the weekend at the Lion Classic and split a pair of games against Alabama A&M, before falling to Southeast Missouri twice.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 0-5 after competing at the Northern Lights/Southern Nights Invitational in Leesburg, Florida.  
 
-The Colonels played a tough opening weekend taking on Iowa, Wisconsin, Pitt, Penn State, and Northwestern.
 
-Samantha Reynoso led the way offensively for the Colonels with a team-high .333 batting average.  
 
-Bethany Todd and Reynoso each tossed complete games over the weekend. Todd tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run, and striking out four against Penn State. Reynoso tossed six innings, allowing four runs, and striking out five against No. 23 Northwestern.
 
-Lauren Narvaez tossed two shutout innings in relief against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
