EKU Softball Looks To Get On Track At Frost Classic In Chattanooga

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team looks to get on track this weekend at the Frost Classic hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
 
The Colonels play two games on Friday, two games on Saturday, and one game on Sunday.
 
First pitch against Southern Illinois is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. The Colonels take on Butler at 3 p.m. On Saturday the Colonels take on Northern Illinois at 10 a.m. followed by the host Chattanooga at 3 p.m. The Colonels wrap up the weekend against the host Chattanooga at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
 
Inside the Series                                                                                                                   
-Southern Illinois comes into the weekend at 4-4 after going 2-2 at the Bulldog Kickoff Classic hosted by Mississippi State. The Salukis knocked off the host Mississippi State and Central Arkansas. SIU fell to Georgia Tech in a pair of contests.  
 
-Butler comes into the event at 7-4 after going 3-2 last weekend at the Spring Games in Leesburg, Florida. The Bulldogs knocked off Hofstra, South Alabama, and Monmouth during the event. Butler well to Ohio State of the Big Ten and Bethune-Cookman on the final day of the event.
 
-Northern Illinois opened its season last weekend at the Florida Atlantic Tournament and have a 1-3 record on the season. The Huskies run-ruled Indiana, 14-3, in five innings during the event. NIU fell to Ohio State, Bethune-Cookman, and the host Florida Atlantic.
 
-The host Chattanooga comes into the event at 5-5 and winners of its last two games. The Mocs went 4-2 last week at the Chattanooga Challenge at Frost Stadium. Chattanooga knocked off SIUE twice, Radford, and Purdue Fort Wayne during the event.
 
What EKU Brings:
-EKU comes into the weekend at 1-9 after competing at the Troy Invitational last weekend hosted by the Troy Trojans.
 
-The Colonels picked up their first win of the season over Nicholls. Samantha Reynoso was fantastic in the circle tossing six and one-third innings, allowing one earned run and striking out two batters.
 
-Reynoso and Sammi Miller lead the way offensively for the Colonels early in the season. Reynoso has a team-high .300 batting average with one double on the year. Miller is hitting .261 with one double, one triple, and two RBIs.
 
-Freshman Maggie Pertee picked up her first multi-hit game of her career in the weekend finale against Nicholls going 2-for-2 with one double, and one run.
