CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell on the opening day of the Frost Classis to Southern Illinois, 7-0.

Southern Illinois took the lead in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back against the Colonels. After a pair of one-out walks, Sidney Sikes singled down the left field line to score two and take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

EKU threatened in the top of the third inning loading the bases with one out. But a groundout and a strikeout ended the Colonel threat.

The Salukis scored one in the third, three in the fourth, and one more in the sixth.

Sammi Miller went 2-for-3 with two singles on the game.
Jasmine Miller and
Bella Sanchez each had a hit on the contest.

Eastern Kentucky's second game of the day was canceled due to poor field conditions. The Colonels are back at it tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. against Northern Illinois.
