EKU Women's Basketball Wraps Up Regular Season At Home Against Bellarmine For Senior Day

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team wraps up the regular season at home on Saturday against in-state foe Bellarmine University for Senior Day.
 
Our team is taking part in the Play4Kay Free Throw Challenge for the entire month of February. "The vision of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to be the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women and providing support through giving strength, courage, and hope. 
Battling stage IV cancer, Hall of Fame coach, Kay Yow, gave her final and lasting gift — the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. In the 13 years since its inception, the Fund has served as a catalyst, uniting communities in the fight against cancer." 
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the ninth all-time meeting between the two teams.
 
- Eastern Kentucky leads the all-time series, 6-2.
 
- EKU won the first meeting between the two teams this year, 61-47, in Louisville.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels (13-15, 6-9 ASUN) fell on the road at Jacksonville State, 64-51, on Thursday night in Jacksonville. EKU has already clinched the No. 3 seed in the west division and a home game to open the conference tournament.
 
-  Jayla Johnson led the way for the Colonels with a team-high 13 points against the Gamecocks.  
 
I'Liyah Green had four blocks against Jacksonville State.
 
-  Alice Recanati ranks second in the ASUN in steals and fifth in the league in steals per game.  
 
-  The Colonels rank seventh in the country in made free throws.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Bellarmine comes into the weekend at 4-22, 1-14 in ASUN play after picking up its first conference win of the season on Thursday night against Lipscomb.
 
-  The Knights are led offensively by Jaela Johnson. Johnson is averaging 12.7 points per game on the season.
 
-  Bellarmine outscored Lipscomb 25-12 in the fourth quarter to secure the teams the first conference win of the year.
 
-  Five different Knights scored in double-digits in the win against Lipscomb.
 
UP NEXT
Eastern Kentucky gears up for the first-round of the ASUN Tournament next Wednesday night. The Colonels will host the first round with the team still to be determined.
