EKU Women's Basketball Welcomes In Liberty To McBrayer Arena On Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team welcomes in Liberty University to McBrayer Arena on Saturday afternoon.
 
Our team is taking part in the Play4Kay Free Throw Challenge for the entire month of February. "The vision of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to be the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women and providing support through giving strength, courage, and hope. 

Battling stage IV cancer, Hall of Fame coach, Kay Yow, gave her final and lasting gift — the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. In the 13 years since its inception, the Fund has served as a catalyst, uniting communities in the fight against cancer." 
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the first meeting all-time between the two teams.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels (11-11, 3-5 ASUN) bounced back and knocked off Kennesaw State, 68-58, on Thursday afternoon at McBrayer Arena.
 
-  Alice Recanati led the way for the Colonels offensively posting 20 points, a career-high nine assist, and five rebounds in the win against the Owls.
 
I'Liyah Green posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.  
 
-  Recanati ranks second in the ASUN in steals and sixth in the league in steals per game. She ranks 79th in the country in overall steals.  
 
-  The Colonels rank fifth in the country in made free throws.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Liberty comes into the weekend at 20-2, 8-1 in the ASUN, and winners of its last five games after knocking off Bellarmine, 77-52, Thursday afternoon.
 
-  The Flames are led offensively by Mya Berkman. Berkman is averaging team-highs in points and rebounds, with 13.4 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game on the season.
 
-  Liberty ranks third in the country in field goal percentage defense and fourth in the country in rebounds margin.
 
-  The Flames are one of the best teams defensively in the country, ranked fifth in the country in scoring defense. Liberty is allowing 51.3 points per game on the year.

Eastern Kentucky hits the road again next week to Florida to take on Jacksonville University on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
