EKU Women's Basketball Travels To Take On Jacksonville On Wednesday

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University's women's basketball team travels to take on Jacksonville University on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Our team is taking part in the Play4Kay Free Throw Challenge for the entire month of February. "The vision of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to be the premier non-profit organization dedicated to supporting innovative ways of fighting ALL cancers affecting women and providing support through giving strength, courage, and hope. 
Battling stage IV cancer, Hall of Fame coach, Kay Yow, gave her final and lasting gift — the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. In the 13 years since its inception, the Fund has served as a catalyst, uniting communities in the fight against cancer." 
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.

INSIDE THE SERIES
- This is the first meeting all-time between the two teams.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels (11-12, 4-6 ASUN) fell at home to Liberty, 69-55, on Saturday afternoon in Richmond.
 
-  Jayla Johnson led the way for the Colonels offensively posting 14 points and three rebounds against the Flames.
 
Bria Bass posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Liberty.
 
Alice Recanati ranks second in the ASUN in steals and sixth in the league in steals per game.  
 
-  The Colonels rank fifth in the country in made free throws.
 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Jacksonville comes into the week at 12-8, 5-4 in the ASUN, and losers of its last two games after falling to Jacksonville State, 72-59, on Saturday afternoon.
 
-  The Dolphins are led offensively by Taylor Hawks who is averaging a team-best 11.5 points per game. Hawks also leads the team in assists with 55 on the year.  
 
-  Jacksonville ranks 17th in the country in steals per game on the year.
 
-  The Dolphins are one of the best teams defensively in the country, ranking 45th in the country in scoring defense. Jacksonville is allowing 57.1 points per game on the year.
 
UP NEXT
Eastern Kentucky hits the road to Nashville to take on Lipscomb on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. against the Bisons.
