MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell on the road at in-state rival Morehead State, 3-1, on Wednesday.
 
Morehead State got on the board first in the bottom of the first.
 
Ieesha Christian got things started with an infield single to shortstop. Madeline Gailor followed her up taking the 0-1 pitch into right center to score Christian from first and give the Eagles the early lead, 1-0.
 
The Colonels answered back in the top of the second inning. Lou Bowers singled through the six hole to get things started with one out. Carly Robinson worked a walk to put runners on first and second with two outs, when freshman Lauren Narvaez singled up the middle for her first career hit and RBI to tie the game at 1-1.
 
The Eagles took the lead in the bottom half of the fourth inning on a bases loaded double from Gailor to give Morehead State the lead, 3-1.
 
Bowers had a pair of hits on the contest going 2-for-3 with a run. Samantha Reynoso, Sammi Miller and Narvaez each had a hit on the game.
 
The Colonels open ASUN play on Saturday in the home opener against Liberty. First pitch against the Flames is scheduled for 2 p.m.
