JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team split a doubleheader on Saturday at Jacksonville to pick up its first ASUN win.

EKU fell in game one to the Dolphins, 3-0, before taking game two of the series, 8-0.

In game two, the Colonels got on the board first in the top of the third.
Â
Miranda Lopez led the inning off with a single down the left field line and advanced to second on a throwing error.
Lauren Narvaez advanced her to third with a sacrifice bunt to put a runner on third with one out.
Sammi Miller brought home Lopez with a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Colonels the 1-0 advantage.

The Colonels added a run in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by
Jasmine Miller her third of the season to give the EKU a 2-0 lead over the Dolphins.

EKU busted the game open in the top of the fifth with six runs to put the run rule into effect.
Â
Three straight singles got things started for the Colonels in the top of the fifth. Pertee worked a one out walk to bring home a run and give EKU the 3-0 advantage.
Lou Bowers followed with a two RBI single to right center to push the Colonel lead to 5-0.
Jasmine Miller delivered the big blow with her second home run of the game, this time a three-run home run to give EKU the 8-0 lead.

Lauren Narvaez tossed a complete-game shutout allowing four hits and striking out one.

Miller went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs. Lopez went 2-for-3 with one run.

The Dolphins scored one in the bottom of the first on a double steal to take the early lead over the Colonels in game one.

The Colonels had one hit on the contest in the top of the sixth inning by
Maggie Pertee.
Â
Jacksonville pushed two more runs across in the bottom of the sixth on a two RBI single from Logan Keith into left center.

Samantha Reynoso went the distance in the circle tossing a complete game allowing three runs.

EKU will look for the series win against Jacksonville tomorrow. First-pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
