JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell in the series finale to Jacksonville University, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels wasted no time in the top half of the first inning to get on the board.

Sammi Miller took the first pitch of the game the other way for a lead off single.
Maggie Pertee reached via a Jacksonville error and stole second base to put runners on second and third with one out in the top half of the inning.
Lou Bowers followed with a single into left center field to score two and give Eastern Kentucky the early 2-0 lead.

Jacksonville got a run back in the bottom half of the second inning. Jacksonville put runners on second and third with one out. After a ground out, Logan Keith singled to left field to score a run and cut the EKU lead in half, 2-1.
Lauren Narvaez got a strikeout to end the threat in the second.

The Dolphins took their first lead of the game in the sixth. A double got things started for Jacksonville with one out. After a flyout made it two outs for the Colonels, a two-run home run by Madison Kennedy to center field gave Jacksonville a 3-2 lead.

The Colonels got the tying run to third base but couldn't push the run across.

Miller went 2-for-3 with one walk and one stolen base. The Colonels had six hits on the game.

Narvaez tossed four and two-third innings in relief allowing two runs and striking out one.

EKU returns home to take on Stetson in a three-game series starting on Saturday. First pitch against the Hatters is scheduled for 1 p.m.
