LEXINGTON, Ky. – Logan Thomason drove in four as Eastern Kentucky beat Kentucky, 6-3, on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.

Thomason finished 3-for-5 with a home run, two doubles, two runs and four RBIs.

The Colonels won their fifth straight and are 15-3 in their last 18 games.

EKU (18-8) started the scoring with Thomason's solo home run in the top of the first inning. Kentucky tied it in the second before Thomason came back around in the third and gave the Colonels the lead for good. With the bases loaded, the junior shortstop sent a 1-1 pitch into left field for a 2-run double.Â
Jalen Jones and
Max Williams scored to make it 3-1.Â
Will King followed with a sacrifice fly for a 4-1 advantage.

The Wildcats (17-9) cut into the lead with a run in the fourth and another in the fifth. Jacob Plastiak drove in a run with a single to left in the bottom half of the fifth inning.

Thomason did more damage when he came up to the plate in the seventh. With two outs and
Kendal Ewell on first, Thomason doubled off the wall in left center to score the run. After a walk to King,
Charlie Ludwick made it a 6-3 game with a single through the right side.

Eastern Kentucky starter
Isaac Milburn allowed three runs on four hits in four innings. He walked four and struck out three.Â
Cameron Kalandros (3-0) pitched two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and one walk.Â
Jordan Fox came in with one on and no outs in the seventh and retired three straight on three fly balls to
Ron Franklin Jr. in center field.

Will Brian entered with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the eighth. He threw three pitches and got a foul ball that Ludwick made a sliding catch on right in front of the EKU dugout. He retired the side in order in the ninth, striking out the final two to secure his national-leading 11th save of the season.

Jase Felker went 2-for-3 with two runs for Kentucky.

The Colonels will take to the road this weekend for a three-game conference series at Jacksonville State. Friday's series opener will begin at 7 p.m.
