RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team travels to the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville for the Bluegrass Challenge this weekend.

With poor weather conditions coming into the area on Saturday the schedule has changed.

The Colonels will play four games during the event. The Colonels open the event with one game on Thursday, followed by a doubleheader on Friday, and a solo game on Sunday.
Â
First pitch against Ohio is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Colonels take on Buffalo at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at John Cropp Stadium to start the day. EKU takes on Valparaiso at 3 p.m. to follow. The Colonels wrap up the weekend against Indiana at Louisville on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.

- Ohio comes into the event at 4-10 on the season. The Bobcats knocked off UMASS to wrap up the Bulldog Classic last weekend. Ohio is led offensively by Brooke Rice who has a team-best .371 batting average on the season. Rice has four doubles, one home run, and eight RBIs. Â

-Buffalo comes to Lexington with a 7-7 record on the year. The Bulls are led by Alexis Lucyshyn who has a team-best .350 batting average on the season. Lucyshyn has one double, two home runs, and 12 RBIs so far on the year. Â Â

-Valpo enters the Bluegrass Challenge at 7-6 on the season. Peyton Moeder leads the way offensively for the Crusaders with a team-best .341 batting average on the year. Moeder has one double and seven RBIs so far this year.

-Indiana comes into the week at 9-4 and winners of its last five games after sweeping its own tournament last weekend. Cora Bassett has been on a tear this year leading the way with a .447 batting average on the year. Bassett has five doubles, five home runs, and 10 RBIs on the year. Â Â Â Â Â

-EKU comes into the weekend at 3-15 after going 1-4 last weekend at the Black & Gold Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama.

Sammi Miller leads the way offensively for the Colonels with a team-best .347 batting average on the year. Miller has two doubles, one home run, eight RBIs, and a team-best six stolen bases on the year. Â
