EKU Softball Falls In A Doubleheader To Central Arkansas On Friday In Richmond

RICHMOND, Ky. –
 The Eastern Kentucky University softball team fell in a pair of contests to Central Arkansas on Friday in Richmond.
 
EKU fell in both contests, 5-1.
 
Central Arkansas got on the board first in the top of the third. After a one out walk, Tremere Harris singled to second base to put runners on first and second with one out. Mary Kate Brown followed with a single to center field to score the first run of the game. An RBI ground out pushed another run across for the Bears to give them a 2-0 advantage.
 
UCA took the 3-0 lead over the Colonels with an RBI single through the left side by Tylar Vernon in the top of the fourth.
 
Vianna Barron got the Colonels on the board in the bottom half of the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field. Her first home run of the season.
 
UCA pushed one across in each of the fifth and sixth innings.
 
Sammi Miller, Jeanay Riley, and Barron each had a hit for the Colonels.

In game two, the Bears scored one run in each of the first two innings and one run in the fourth and fifth innings to cruise past the Colonels.
 
Eastern Kentucky started chipping away in the bottom of the fifth. Sammi Miller got things started with a single to lead off the inning. Maggie Pertee and Jasmine Miller had back-to-back singles to score Miller from second base and get the Colonels on the board, 4-1.
 
Sammi Miller went 2-for-4 with a run scored.
 
Lauren Narvaez tossed six innings in the circle for the Colonels.
 
EKU wraps up the series on Saturday against the Bears. First-pitch of the series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m.
