Colonels Even Series With 17-4 Win At Bellarmine

LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Max Williams had four hits, Charlie Ludwick finished with four hits and four RBIs and Ron Franklin Jr. drove in four to lead EKU to a 17-4 series evening win over Bellarmine on Saturday.
 
The Colonels (28-15, 13-7 ASUN) trailed 1-0 heading into the fourth.  Conner Davis started the inning with a single, moved to third on a double by Ludwick and scored the tying run on a wild pitch.  Franklin followed with his first RBI of the day on a single to left.  With runners at the corners, Williams singled through the right side to make it 3-1.  Will King capped the big inning with a 2-run double to left field.
 
After the Knights made it 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Franklin hit a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth to extend the Eastern Kentucky advantage to 7-2.  It was his sixth of the season.
 
Kendal Ewell's 13th home run of the season, Franklin's fourth RBI of the game on a bases loaded walk, and a wild pitch gave the Colonels a 10-4 lead in the top of the sixth.
 
Ludwick was 4-for-4 and hit a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth, his second of the series.  He also had two walks and four runs to go along with three RBIs. 
 
Franklin finished 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and four RBIs.  Williams was 4-for-6, including a ninth inning solo home run, scored two runs and had two RBIs.  Ewell was 2-for-4 with a walk, two runs and an RBI.
 
Isaac Milburn provided three innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit.
 
Peyton Back had three hits in four at bats for Bellarmine (10-32, 7-13 ASUN) and scored a run.
 
The series finale is set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
