RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky was one out away from taking the series opener against Lipscomb, but the Bisons got the game-tying hit in the ninth and then went on to win 7-3 in 11 innings.

Ron Franklin Jr. gave the Colonels (32-16, 17-8 ASUN) a lead in the second when he sent a 2-2 pitch flying over the wall in left center with a runner on base. It was his seventh of the season. EKU went in front 3-1 on a
Max Williams RBI single through the left side in the bottom of the fifth.

Lipscomb (30-19, 16-9 ASUN) went into the ninth down 3-2. Trace Wilhoite started the inning with an infield single and then gave way to a pinch runner. A sacrifice bunt moved the tying run to second. A fly ball to left provided the second out. On a 2-1 pitch, Chaz Bertolani singled to right to bring home the tying run.

Eastern Kentucky got the winning run to second base with one out in the bottom of the 10th, and to third with two outs, but Lipscomb got out of the jam with a ground ball to second.

The Bisons scored four times in the top of the 11th to complete the comeback. Bertolani had a single and scored a run in the big inning. He finished 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Matthew Corlew had two hits in three at bats and scored two of EKU's three runs.Â
Rese Brown started on the mound and allowed two runs on six hits over six and two-third innings.

Saturday's game two of the series will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday will be 80's Night with the best songs of the 1980's. Fans born in the 1980s will receive FREE admission.  Sunday will be Senior Day and Kids Day. All kids 12 and under will receive FREE admission and get to run the bases after the game.
