KENNESAW, Ga. – The Colonels trailed by just one at halftime, but Kennesaw State started the second half with a 10-1 run on the way to a 79-75 victory over Eastern Kentucky on Monday at the KSU Convocation Center.

EKU (8-7, 1-1 ASUN) jumped out to a 14-5 lead on the strength of eight early points from
Cooper Robb. A put-back dunk by
John Ukomadu made it 16-10 in favor of the visitors. However, the Owls answered with a 12-6 run to erase the deficit. Demond Robinson's free throw with 5:45 left in the opening half capped the run and tied it 22-22.

The two teams took turns rolling off five unanswered and were tied at 27-27 with 3:40 on the clock. Robb hit his third 3-pointer of the half and
Tayshawn Comer connected on a jumper to push Eastern Kentucky ahead 32-27. KSU scored the final six points of the half and took a 1-point lead, 33-32, to the locker room at the break.

Robb had 11 in the first half. The Owls made just 1-of-12 from deep but out-scored the Colonels 10-2 at the free throw line.

Kennesaw State (10-5, 2-0 ASUN) came out in the second half and stretched that 6-0 run to end the first into a 16-1 run. A 3-pointer from Kasen Jennings and a lay-up by Terrell Burden gave the Owls a 10-point advantage, 43-33.

EKU got to within five, 47-42, after another 3-pointer from Robb and two free throws from Ukomadu with 14:43 left in the game. Kennesaw State scored the next eight points to go back on top by double figures, 55-42.

The Owls built their 13-point lead by opening the second half hitting 7-fo-11 from the field (63.6 percent), 4-of-5 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

KSU took a second 13-point lead, 68-55, with 6:37 left to play. The Colonels closed to within five again, 76-71, on a 3-pointer by
Devontae Blanton from the right corner and a putback from Moreno with 1:24 on the clock. Moreno made 1-of-2 at the free throw line with 1:00 left to make it a 4-point game.

Moreno finished with 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. Robb contributed 16 points.Â
Isaiah Cozart had seven points and nine rebounds.

Spencer Rodgers came off the bench to lead Kennesaw State with 17 points. Burden had 15 points. Robinson finished with nine points and 12 rebounds.

The Owls shot 54 percent from the field in the second half and went 6-of-11 from 3-point range after hitting just one in the first period.

The Colonels continue their road trip at Central Arkansas on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
