LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A 3-pointer in the final second of the game allowed Bellarmine to beat the Eastern Kentucky University, 72-71, on Thursday at Freedom Hall.

Garrett Tipton's long 3-pointer swished through the net with 0.2 seconds left in the game. He finished with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Knights (10-12, 5-4 ASUN).

Michael Moreno scored a game-best 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Colonels (13-9, 6-3 ASUN). He hit four 3-pointers in the second half.Â
Isaiah Cozart contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.Â
Tayshawn Comer finished with 10 points and five assists.

EKU out-rebounded Bellarmine 34-31 and committed four fewer turnovers. However, Bellarmine shot 52 percent from the field for the game and made 12 three-pointers.

The Colonels overcame a slow start, falling behind 11-2 as the Knights made three of their first four attempts from 3-point range. The answer came with a 20-6 run that turned a nine-point deficit into a five-point lead. Â
Leland Walker's 3-pointer gave EKU its first lead at 16-15.Â
Cooper Robb's lay-up and free throw capped it and had the visitors in front 22-17.

Comer's 3-pointer from the left corner gave the Colonels an eight-point edge, 30-22. EKU carried a 36-35 lead into the locker room at the break.

After their hot start from long range, the Knights closed the half 3-for-11 from deep.Â

With EKU leading 42-39 in the second, Moreno caught fire from long range. His 3-pointer from the left wing started a 15-3 Colonel run. He hit two more treys on the next two possessions. His fourth triple capped the run and put the visitors ahead by 15, 57-42.Â

Bellarmine whittled away at the deficit, scoring eight straight to get within four, 68-64, with 3:22 left in the game. After Moreno made a free throw, and then got his own rebound on the second attempt and laid it in, EKU led 71-64 with 1:53 on the clock.

Tipton's 3-pointer from the right wing with 55 seconds to go made it a two-point game. The Colonels turned it over with 28 ticks left.
