Leland Walker broke the program record for assists in a game with 16 as EKU beat Wilberforce, 133-75, on Friday at Baptist Health Arena.

Walker finished two rebounds away from a triple double, recording 15 points and eight boards to go along with the most assists in a game since Wendell Green Jr. dished out 15 against Tennessee Tech on Jan. 9, 2021.

Isaiah Cozart made 13-of-16 from the field and had a career-high 33 points to lead the Colonels (2-0). He pulled down 14 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games. The senior also blocked four shots. Former Mr. Basketball
Turner Buttry made 6-of-10 attempts from 3-point range and finished with a new career-high 22 points.Â

With the game tied at 11-11 early, the Colonels scored seven unanswered to start a 26-6 run. EKU finished off the spurt with 15 straight, including three consecutive 3-pointers from Buttry. A three from
DaShawn Jackson capped it and put the home team ahead by 20, 37-17.

A 17-2 run late in the half pushed the margin to 38. Cozart scored six of his 21 first half points during this run and Buttry added his fourth 3-pointer. Jackson closed it with a lay-up that put his squad on top 69-33.

EKU took a 34-point lead into the locker room at the break, 72-38. The Colonels hit on 57 percent of their shots from the field in the first half.Â

Cozart's dunk with 18:26 left in the game pushed the margin to 40-plus for the first time, 81-40. The lead reach 50, 122-72, when
David Onanina converted a lay-up with 3:40 left in the game. The largest lead of the game came on the final basket with 28 seconds remaining – Onanina's dunk set the final at 58 points, 133-75.

John Ukomadu had 17 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.

The Colonels shot 59 percent in the second half and 58 percent for the game. EKU out-rebounded Wilberforce 60-34.

Germaine Marshall had a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds for the Bulldogs. WU made 38 percent of its attempts from the field and just 14 percent (3-for-21) from long range. Wilberforce missed all nine of its 3-point attempts in the second half.
