Colonels End Home Stand On Monday Against Troy

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University will close out its five-game home stand to begin the 2023-24 season by hosting Troy on Monday at Baptist Health Arena.
 
As part of the Toys for Tots drive, fans who donate a new toy will receive 50 percent off their ticket to Monday's game.  Also, as part of the Study Break Game promotion, EKU students will receive FREE coffee and cookies. 
 
The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.  Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at EKUSports.com or by calling 859-622-2122.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU dropped to 2-2 on the season after falling to Prairie View A&M, 76-64, on Tuesday.
 
-  The Colonels held Prairie View to 39 percent shooting from the field and pulled down 21 offensive rebounds.  However, EKU shot just 34 percent from the field, including 28 percent from deep, and turned the ball over five more times than the Panthers.
 
-  Isaiah Cozart blocked seven shots against Prairie View, one short of his program single game record.
 
-  Devontae Blanton finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds in Tuesday's game.  He was chosen to the EKU Classic All-Tournament Team.
 
-  Through the first four games of the season, EKU has made just 31 percent of its 3-point attempts.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Troy sits at 3-3 this season after beating Grambling, 80-67, at home on Friday.  The Trojans also have two non-Division I wins.   
 
- Christyon Eugene led Troy with 23 points against Grambling.  He also had four steals and three rebounds.
 
-  Troy forced just 14 turnovers against Grambling, but 11 of them were on steals.  The Trojans out-rebounded Grambling 37-29 and outscored the visitors 27-13 at the free throw line.
 
-  Eugene, a 6-foot-3 senior guard, leads the team in scoring this season at 15 points per game.  He has made 48 percent of his shots from the field, but just 6-of-20 from long range.  Thomas Dowd, a 6-foot-8 freshman forward, is contributing 10.3 points and a team-best 6.3 rebounds per game.
 
-  As a team, Troy is averaging 87 points per game and allowing just 70 points per contest.  The Trojans have shot 45 percent from the field and 30 percent from 3-point range.  Troy is averaging 43.3 rebounds per game, 8.7 more than its opponents.
