Colonels Wrap Up Regular Season At Jacksonville On Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University will conclude the 2022-23 regular season at Jacksonville on Friday.
 
The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WLFX 106.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels are 2-1 all-time against Jacksonville.  The first meeting came on Dec. 7, 2016 with EKU picking up an 80-76 win in Jacksonville.  In the first ASUN meeting between the two squads, the Dolphins earned an 81-68 victory on their home court on Feb. 9, 2022. 
 
-  In last year's meeting, the Colonels cut a 13-point halftime deficit to six midway through the second half but Jacksonville put an end to the comeback bid by answering with a 9-0 run.  Gyasi Powell's lay-up with 8:05 to play made it a 15-point game, 65-50.  Cooper Robb finished 14 points.  EKU forced 15 turnovers in the game and committed only three.  JU shot 57 percent from the field for the game and had a 41-24 rebounding edge.  Kevion Nolan led JU with 15 points and five assists.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (18-12, 11-6 ASUN) sit in fourth place in the ASUN standings.  With a win on Friday, the Colonels will clinch a home game in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Tournament.
 
-  Michael Moreno has posted a double-double in three straight games, including 15 points and 10 rebounds at North Florida on Wednesday.
 
-  The Colonels out-rebounded UNF by nine, 48-39.  The Colonels are first in the conference, and eighth in the country, in rebounds (39.90/game).
 
-  Isaiah Cozart recorded his fourth double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds at North Florida.  It was the first time two Colonels posted a double-double in the same game since Devontae Blanton and Braxton Beverly did it on Jan. 18, 2022 against Lipscomb.
 
-  The Colonels are first in the ASUN, and 37th in the country, in steals with 8.40 per game.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Jacksonville is 13-15 overall and 6-11 in ASUN games.  The Dolphins have lost two straight and six of their last seven.   
 
-  Jacksonville is 24th in the nation in scoring defense (62.9 ppg).  The Dolphins are 39th in the NCAA in field goal percentage defense (40.9 percent) and 52nd in 3-point field goal percentage defense (31.3 percent), leading the ASUN in both categories.
 
-  JU lost 63-61 at home to Bellarmine on Wednesday.  Jacksonville shot 50 percent from the field, but made just 7-of-14 at the free throw line and were out-scored by six at the stripe.
 
-  Nolan leads the team in scoring (13.2 ppg) and assists (4.3 apg).
 
-  Osayi Osifo is the top rebounder with 5.6 boards per game.
