WILMINGTON, N.C. – After two successful weekends to begin the 2023 campaign, EKU softball (7-3) takes its best start to a season in over two years to North Carolina for the UNCW Tournament.
Friday's opening game against Georgetown will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET, followed by a clash with host school UNCW at 7 p.m.
The tournament continues for EKU after the opening day, playing against the Hoyas and Seahawks on Saturday (12:30 & 5 p.m.), App State to wrap up the weekend on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
This weekend's tournament is not available for streaming; however, live stats will be kept for each contest and can be found on the Colonels' website.
EKU is off to a 7-3 start with wins over Creighton, Bowling Green, and Georgia State.
Five of EKU's nine starters are hitting over .300 to begin the season, topped by senior
Vianna Barron, who leads the Colonels with a .394 batting average, 13 hits, and three home runs.
Jasmine Miller and
Lou Bowers led EKU at the Bob Heck Classic last weekend in Atlanta, bumping their averages to .345 and .344, respectively. Bowers hit her first home run of the season in win over Rhode Island.
Following Barron, sophomore
Maggie Pertee is second on the squad in home runs with two.

Lauren Narvaez, who has a 4-1 record over 36 innings and 15 strikeouts.
