RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU men's tennis team (2-8) ends their non-conference schedule with back-to-back road matches, starting off the slate with a trip to Cary, N.C. on Friday, March 3 to take on North Carolina Central (1-6) at 2:00 p.m. at Cary Tennis Park. The Colonels have a quick turnaround, as they will face off against South Carolina State (2-7) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 in Orangeburg, S.C. at the Hardeep Judge Tennis Center.
THE COLONELS
- The Maroon and White enter the first matchup with a 2-8 record, most recently falling to Dayton, 4-1, on Feb. 26.
- EKU looks to build momentum off their doubles play in the last two matches, as they earned the doubles point against Cleveland State and Dayton.
- Moritz Mayer and Paul-Antoine Brazet are undefeated as a doubles pair in 2023 from the No. 2 spot while Kristoffer Stahlbrand and Arthur Bugeaud boast a 2-1 doubles record.
- The Colonels will face off against North Carolina Central and South Carolina State for the first time in program history.
SCOUTING NORTH CAROLINA CENTRAL
- The Eagles enter the match with a 1-6 mark, most recently earning their first win of the season over UNC Greensboro, 4-3. They compete against Hampton on Thursday before playing EKU.
- North Carolina Central earned the doubles point in their win over UNC Greensboro.
- Kareem Abdul Hakim and Naresh Bharathy have two wins each in singles play in 2023.
SCOUTING SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
- The Bulldogs enter the match with a 2-7 record, most recently losing to ASUN foe Kennesaw State, 4-3.
- South Carolina State earned the doubles point in their loss to Kennesaw State.
- Rostislav Halfinger leads the Bulldogs with four wins in singles play this season.
