Men’s Tennis Plays Two ASUN Matches At Home Against Jacksonville State And #66 Liberty

RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU men's tennis team (3-10, 0-1 ASUN) plays in two ASUN matches at the Greg Adams Tennis Center this week, starting off the slate against Jacksonville State (8-6, 0-0 ASUN) on Friday, March 17 at 10:00 a.m. The Colonels have a quick turnaround, as they face off against #66 Liberty (6-8, 1-0 ASUN) on Saturday, March 18 at 3:00 p.m.
 
THE COLONELS
  • The Maroon and White enter the matchup with a 3-10 record, as they look to bounce back from a 4-3 loss against Lipscomb.
  • EKU claimed the doubles point against Lipscomb, winning from the top two courts.
  • Moritz Mayer and Paul-Antoine Brazet remain undefeated as a duo in doubles play with a 3-0 record from the No. 2 spot.
  • Kristoffer Stahlbrand and Arthur Bugeaud boast a 4-1 doubles record from the No. 1 and No. 2 courts.
  • Stahlbrand and Brazet won their singles matches in three sets against the Bisons from the No. 2 and No. 3 positions in the lineup.
  • The Colonels own a 9-3 all-time record against JSU while only playing Liberty once in 2013, losing by a score of 6-1.
 
SCOUTING JACKSONVILLE STATE
  • Jacksonville State enters the match with an 8-6 mark, most recently beating Southern Miss, 5-2, on March 13.
  • The Gamecocks are led by Vanja Dobrnjac in singles, boasting an 11-2 record from multiple spots in the lineup. Dobrnjac is on a five-match winning streak.
  • Logan Haga and Konstantin Benneman lead JSU in doubles, as they both have a 5-3 record.
  • Jacksonville State won their singles matches from courts 3-6 against Southern Miss.
 
SCOUTING LIBERTY
  • Liberty enters the match with a 6-8 record, most recently falling to Boise State, 4-1, on March 12. The Flames compete against ASUN foe Kennesaw State on Friday before facing EKU.
  • Luis Felipe Miguel leads Liberty in singles play this season, posting a 7-5 record from multiple spots in the lineup.
  • The Flames are led by Josh Wilson and Christiaan Worst in doubles play who are ranked as the No. 74 doubles team in Division I.
  • Worst won his singles match against Boise State from the No. 3 spot, 7-5, 7-5.
