LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The EKU women's tennis team (5-13, 1-2 ASUN) earned their first ASUN Conference win in school history against Bellarmine (3-13, 0-2 ASUN) by a score of 5-2 at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex on Thursday.
To begin the dual match,
Sasha Parkhomenko and
Masha Fedenko won their doubles match from the No. 1 court, 6-3, while
Daniela Hernandez and
Elena Tairian swept Bellarmine's No. 2 pair, 6-0. As a result, the Colonels entered singles play with a one-point advantage.
In singles play, Parkhomenko won her singles match in straight sets from the No. 2 spot, 7-5, 6-4.
Tairian won her singles match in three sets from the No. 3 position, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
Emmeline Polevoi took care of business in singles, winning her match in straight sets from the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-4.
Hernandez clinched the match for the Colonels, winning in singles play in a three-set thriller from the No. 5 spot, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
