FORT MYERS, Fla. – EKU softball (20-18, 4-9 ASUN) drops the series opener to Florida Gulf Coast (25-19, 7-6 ASUN) by a shutout score of 4-0 on Friday night at FGCU Softball Complex.
With Friday's result, EKU snaps a four-game winning streak dating back to April 4 at Northern Kentucky.
The Colonels recorded four hits on the day from
Jaelin Haynes,
Jeanay Riley,
Vianna Barron, and
Jasmine Miller.
Sophomore hurler
Lauren Narvaez earned the loss tossing six innings, allowing six hits, three earned runs, and striking out three Eagle batters. Narvaez moves to 11-12 on the season from the circle.
The Colonels left five runners on base in Friday's contest, however, put the ball in play in 20-of-24 at bats, drawing two walks and striking out twice.
EKU looks to even the series tomorrow in game two of the series against FGCU at 2:00 p.m. ET.
