EKU Travels to NKU on Tuesday for Midweek Clash

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – EKU softball (16-17, 1-8 ASUN) prepares for its third midweek clash of the season facing Northern Kentucky (9-21, 4-3 Horizon) on Tuesday at Frank Ignatius Grein Softball Field.
 
EKU is 0-2 in true midweek games, dropping a 13-inning thriller to Western Kentucky by a score of 3-2 and a 10-1 loss to Louisville at home. Tuesday's game is EKU's first game on the road against in-state competition.

The Colonels are coming off a weekend series loss to North Alabama, EKU was able to take game one of the series in comeback fashion, 3-2, off a Vianna Barron two-run single through the left side.
 
Infielders Maggie Pertee and Madison Scott led EKU with three hits on the weekend. Pertee's efforts found a national audience on Sunday as her diving catch was highlighted on was highlighted on SportsCenter Top 10, checking in at No. 7.
 
Freshman Brooke Davis earned EKU's lone win over the weekend, tossing a combined eight innings with nine hits, four earned runs, and one strikeout.
 
Scouting NKU
Northern Kentucky is coming off a series loss to Cleveland State at home with a 10-0 loss and a 10-1 win. NKU has lost six of its last eight games and are 0-for-3 in midweeks with losses to Marshall and Dayton.
 
Junior Ella LeMonier emphatically leads the Norse with a .351 batting average and 34 hits on the season, 12 more than the next two teammates in the stat column. She's had four multi-hit games in her last eight contests. LeMonier also leads the team in stolen bases, successfully stealing 13-of-14 bags.
 
All three traditional NKU starters have over 44 innings pitched through this point in the season, sophomore Alicia Flores leads the team with 85 innings pitched and has a 4-11 record in the circle. Opponents have a .300 BA against the Zionsville, Indiana product.
