Criss Sacrifice Fly In 14th Lifts Colonels To Win In Series Finale

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
A sacrifice fly off the bat of Roderick Criss II in the 14th inning gave EKU a 5-4 win over Jacksonville University in the series finale on Saturday.
 
All three games of the series were decided by one run.
 
Jalen Jones started the top of the 14th with a single to left.  Will King followed with a double.  After Charlie Ludwick was intentionally walked, Criss lifted a fly ball to right field to score Jones.
 
Chase Malloy's two run single in the fourth gave Jacksonville (22-11, 7-5 ASUN) a 2-0 lead.  EKU tied the game in the sixth.  Criss had a sacrifice fly before DJ Sullivan drove in the tying run with a double to left field.
 
The Colonels (13-18, 4-8 ASUN) took a 3-2 lead in the eighth when Ludwick led off the inning with a home run over the wall in right field.  Malloy had the answer in the bottom half of the eighth, bringing home the tying run with a sacrifice fly to right field.
 
With one out in the 11th inning, Ron Franklin Jr. singled to center field.  Hayden Duffield followed with a walk.  A ground out moved the runners to second and third before Logan Thomason drove in the go-ahead run with a single to left.  Justin Nadeau tied the game again in the bottom half of the 11th with a RBI single to center.
 
Ludwick finished 2-for-5 with two walks, two runs and an RBI.  Thomason was 3-for-7 with an RBI.  King went 3-for-7 with a run scored.  Joe Clancy pitched the final two and one-third innings.  He allowed one hit, one walk and struck out three, including Malloy with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 12th.
 
Malloy had a 2-for-5 day with a walk and three RBIs for Jacksonville.
 
The Colonels will play at nationally ranked Tennessee on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
