ATLANTA – Eastern Kentucky University softball student-athletes Lou Bowers, Vianna Barron, and Maggie Pertee all received ASUN Conference postseason honors, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Bowers was named First Team All-ASUN as a utility player after batting .262 from the designated hitter spot with a team-leading 11 home runs and second on the team with 43 runs batted in. Bowers' home run and RBI values were top two of the conference for the duration of the regular season.

The Tyrone, Ga. native wrapped up a five-year career in the maroon last weekend which saw her compete in over 180 games with a .265 batting average, 18 home runs, 105 hits, and 93 RBIs. She helped EKU to over 130 wins and a conference championship during her time in Richmond.

Tuesday's First Team All-ASUN award is EKU's first since the 2021 season when the team had three members selected to the First Team All-OVC. The honor is EKU's 49th first team all-conference selection in program history.

Junior Vianna Barron also earned postseason honors, selected to the Third Team All-ASUN as an infielder after leading the squad with a .379 batting average, 64 hits, 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 45 RBIs, 114 total bases, and a .675 slugging percentage.

Barron led all three honorees with a .983 fielding percentage with 225 putouts and seven assists, splitting time in the infield and outfield during the 2023 season.

Joining Barron on the Third Team All-ASUN as an infielder is sophomore Maggie Pertee, who wrapped up the best season of her two-year collegiate career with a .367 batting average, 58 hits, 13 doubles, and nine home runs.

Tuesday's all-conference selections brings EKU's total to 107 postseason awards in program history.

The Colonels finished their 2023 campaign with a 28-24 (10-14 ASUN) record after sweeping in-state Bellarmine last weekend. With its .538 mark on the season, EKU has finished with a winning record in five of its last six seasons.
