EKU Bound for Chicago to Face DePaul

CHICAGO – EKU soccer (0-2-1) makes its second road trip of the season on Thursday with a matchup against DePaul (1-1-1) at Wish Field beginning at 5 p.m ET.

Thursday's match in The Windy City will be available to stream on FloSports (Subscription required) with Matt Sosler on the call. Fans looking to make the trip to Chicago can purchase tickets starting at $8 on Depaul's website.

A goal from freshman Erica Cox led the Colonels to a 1-1 draw last time out against Belmont. Cox's goal in the 32nd minute of last Thursday's match was her first collegiate shot on goal, she would go on to lead EKU is shots attempted (3) and shots on goal (2). Cox, joining fellow freshman Ruby Dunlevy who hit her first career goal in a 1-0 loss to Western Michigan, have scored both of EKU's goals on the young season.

EKU's goals through its first three matches have been assisted by the Colonel midfield from Paula Herranz, Gretta Gunn, and Maddy Murphy. Gunn's assist against WMU marked the ninth assist of her career that tied the EKU program record set by Jordan Foster in 2017.

Sophomore holding midfielder Kaitlyn Rowlett was an anchor on the defensive side of the ball against Belmont, she became the first Colonel to log 90 minutes of action in a single match this season. She tied her career-high value in shot attempts (2) for the third time in the 1-1 result.

DePaul enters Thursday's contest with a 1-1-1 mark, picking up four points in its last two games against Samford (W, 2-1) on the road and Green Bay (T, 1-1) at home. The Blue Demons are led by graduate midfielder Ellie Mink, who's scored two of DePaul's three goals through its first three matches. She leads the team with a 50 percent shot on goal rate.

Thursday's match between EKU and DePaul is the first meeting for both programs. EKU is seeking its first win against a Big East opponent since the 2017 season when the Colonels downed Xavier, 1-0, on the road.
