RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (0-0) opens their 2024 season against Xavier (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
There will be a poster giveaway for fans attending the match.
THE COLONELS
The Colonels were led by
Moritz Mayer in 2023, who won a team-high nine singles matches from the top two spots in the lineup. Mayer was selected ASUN Third Team All-Conference, beating two All-Conference players in singles play.
Kristoffer Stahlbrand led the Maroon and White in doubles last season, posting a team-high nine wins, including a 6-4 record from the No. 1 court.
EKU looks to improve from a 4-19 record last season, as they ended their season in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament against Jacksonville State. The Colonels own a 7-12 all-time record against Xavier. The Musketeers won 4-3 in their last meeting on March 25, 2018.
SCOUTING XAVIER
Xavier earned a 12-9 mark last season, ending their season in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament against Georgetown. The Musketeers were led by Marco Pennelli in singles play last season, posting a 13-6 record. Pascal Mosberger led Xavier in doubles, earning a 9-6 mark.
