RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's tennis team (1-0, 0-0 ASUN) won its first match of the season against in-state rival Western Kentucky (0-1, 0-0 C-USA) by a score of 4-3 at Greg Adams Tennis Center on Sunday.
To begin the dual match,
Madison Hill and
Mariia Triska won their doubles match from the No. 3 court, 6-2. However, the Lady Toppers won from the top two courts to earn the doubles point.
Masha Fedenko dominated in her singles match from the No. 1 spot, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Emmeline Polevoi won her singles match in straight sets from the No. 4 position, 6-2, 6-4. Shortly after,
Marilou Cote earned her first career Division I singles victory in straight sets from the No. 3 court, 7-6 (9-7), 6-4.
After
Izem Elif Olcer lost by retirement,
Sasha Parkhomenko won on a tiebreak in the third set to clinch the match from the Colonels by a score of 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4).
