Colonels Open Atlantic Sun Conference Play on Road Against Lipscomb, Austin Peay

EKU Embarks on Year Three in ASUN

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University women's basketball program opens Atlantic Sun Conference play with two road games in the Volunteer State this week, beginning with Lipscomb in Nashville and ending with Austin Peay in Clarksville.
 
EKU's trip to Tennessee marks year three as a member institution of the ASUN Conference, EKU has qualified for tournament play in both of its prior two seasons in the league.
 
EKU's first stop will be in the Music City with a clash against two programs receiving votes to the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid Major Top 25 poll against Lipscomb on Jan. 4.  Thursday's conference opener is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EST and tickets are available now on the Bisons' website.
 
The Colonels will conclude its two-game road swing with Austin Peay inside the Govs' new F&M Bank Arena on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 3 p.m. EST.  Tickets are available for purchase here.
 
Fans unable to make to be in attendance this week can find both games on ESPN+, home of all ASUN Conference basketball games, or over the air on 92.5 WEKY with Wes Chandler courtside on the call.
 
EKU enters play this week atop the ASUN Conference standings with its 11-3 record in non-conference play.  The Colonels have won three of their last four games over Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri, and Samford at home.
 
Two of EKU's three losses have come against Power 5 opponents in No. 4 Utah and Tennessee.
 
Antwainette Walker continues to lead the Colonels and the ASUN Conference in points per game (20.7) through just 10 games played.  Before the start of the season, Walker was named ASUN Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason All-ASUN.

All-Time vs. Lipscomb
- EKU and Lipscomb meet for the seventh time, fourth time in ASUN Conference play.
- EKU owns the all-time series 5-1 and is 2-0 inside Allen Arena dating back to 2002.
 
All-Time vs. Austin Peay
- The Colonels and Govs meet for the 89th time on Saturday, EKU owns the all-time series 49-39.
- EKU is seeking its first win over APSU since 2018, where the Govs have claimed the last eight meetings in the series.
- EKU and APSU last met in the ASUN Conference quarterfinals in Clarksville last season, Walker led the Colonels with 18 points and six rebounds.
