JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the cusp of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, seven Eastern Kentucky University women's soccer student-athletes combined for nine ASUN postseason awards, announced by the league office from its headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.
Ella Grode and
Chiara Premoli were named Second Team All-ASUN, the first postseason honors of their careers. Additionally,
Ana Manning,
Rachel Robinson,
Kaitlyn Rowlett, and
Paula Herranz were named Third Team All-ASUN. Grode and Manning were selected to the ASUN All-Freshman Team while
Marah Krick was named Academic All-ASUN for the second consecutive season.
EKU's nine selections to the ASUN postseason awards marks the program's highest total as a member institution in the conference. The Colonels have been awarded 21 postseason honors since joining the league in the 2021 season.
Grode earned Second Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Freshman honors after ending the regular season with a team-leading five goals, 14 points, and 20 shots on goal. The Avon Lake, Ohio product had three goals in her freshman campaign scored in the conference slate against Stetson, West Georgia, and Bellarmine. She was second on the team in shot attempts (45) and struck 44 percent of her shots on target. Grode was a one-time ASUN Player of the Week during the regular season.
Premoli was also named Second Team All-ASUN just days after setting the EKU school record in assists in a single game (3) against Bellarmine. She ended her sophomore season with a team-leading five assists while starting in all 19 of the team's games from the winger position.
Manning earned Third Team All-ASUN and ASUN All-Freshman honors after tying two other Colonels with a team-leading five goals through 17 games played. The Loveland, Ohio product ended the season atop the team's leaderboard in total shots (46), while being second in shots on goal (18) and points (12). Manning also had three goals in ASUN play against Stetson, North Alabama, and Bellarmine.
Herranz earned the second postseason honor of her career on Wednesday after being selected to Third Team All-ASUN. The sophomore from Madrid, Spain ended the season with seven points off two goals and three assists, logging over 1,235 minutes in the field as a winger and connecting 41 percent of her shots on frame.
Robinson earns the first postseason honor of her career being named Third Team All-ASUN as one of the premier holding midfielders in the conference. She started in all 19 of the team's games and helped the program pitch five shutouts during the regular season.
Rowlett was named Third Team All-ASUN as a defender after playing a team-best 1,628 minutes on the backline and helping the Colonels pitch five shutouts, three of those coming in ASUN play against Austin Peay, Queens, and West Georgia. She was a one-time ASUN Defensive Player of the Week during the regular season.
For the second straight year, senior goalkeeper
Marah Krick was named Academic All-ASUN after recording a 4.0 GPA in the classroom while continuing a degree in business management. She was one of four student-athletes on the 12-person academic team to be named to the award in two or more seasons.
On the pitch, Krick earned a career-best 10 wins , 5 shutouts, and 65 saves during the regular season after appearing in 18 games with 1,520 minutes in net. She will depart the program at the end of the season top five in school history in every major goalkeeping category.
EKU will shift its sight to postseason play beginning tomorrow in the ASUN Tournament First Round against No. 8 seed Jacksonville, in Jacksonville, starting around 7 p.m. EST. The match can be streamed live on ESPN+ and will be hosted by No. 4 seed North Florida.
