CONWAY, Ark. – EKU suffered a 3-1 loss at Central Arkansas on Sunday. The Sugar Bears won by scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-20 and 25-23.

After a kill by
Emilee Hill got EKU within one in the first set, 11-10, Central Arkansas went on a 6-1 run to take control. A kill from Regan Harp and an attack error made it 16-11 in favor of the home team. UCA rolled to a 25-18 win and a 1-0 lead.

In the second set, the Colonels took their turn running off a run to seize the advantage. Alexa Carranza got the Sugar Bears within one, 17-16, with an ace. EKU answered with a 6-0 run. Back-to-back attack errors capped the spurt and put the visitors on top 23-16. A kill from

Central Arkansas started the third set by winning six of the first seven points, jumping out to a 6-1 lead on a kill from Laci Bohannan. Bohannan stretched the margin to eight at 19-11 with a kill. The Colonels closed within three, 22-19, on a kill from Mitchell and a UCA attack error. The Sugar Bears took the set, 25-20, and a 2-1 lead in the match on a service error.

UCA led for much of the first half of the fourth set, going up by three, 12-9, on a kill from Caylan Koons. The Colonels answered with nine straight. A kill from Mitchell completed the comeback and turned a 3-point deficit into a 6-point lead, 18-12. After EKU took an 8-point lead, 21-13, the Sugar Bears scored seven straight to close within one. Allison Holloway's kill tied it 22-22. UCA took a 23-22 lead on a bad set and got to match-point, 24-23, on a service error. The Sugar Bears completed the comeback and took the match on Mackenzie Vernon's kill.
