EKU Makes Trip To Face Clemson On Tuesday

CLEMSON, S.C. – Eastern Kentucky University' will face Clemson on Tuesday at historic Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, South Carolina.
 
The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on the ACC Network.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (2-0) is coming off an 82-78 road win at East Tennessee in the ASUN/SoCon Challenge.  The Bucs were one of the preseason favorites in the Southern Conference.
 
-  Fifth-year senior Devontae Blanton had a complete performance against ETSU, finishing with 20 points, seven assists, five rebounds, two steals and one block.  He made 8-of-17 from the field.
 
-  A pair of transfers from the College of Charleston were big for the Colonels against East Tennessee.  Guard Jordan Crawford hit 5-of-7 from behind the arc and 6-of-10 overall to finish with 17 points off the bench.  Forward Mayar Wol made his first start and contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
 
-  EKU had only one block in its season-opener against Alice Lloyd.  In game two, the Colonels blocked seven ETSU shots.  Yvens Paul led the way with four.  Montavious Myrick had two and Blanton had one.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Clemson is off to a 2-0 start to the season after beating Charleston Southern, 91-64, and Saint Francis, 88-62.  The Tigers finished 24-12 overall and 11-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season.  Clemson won three games in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the Elite 8.  
 
- Chase Hunter, a 6-foot-5 guard in his sixth season at Clemson, leads the team in scoring at 15 points per game.
 
-  Ian Schieffelin is averaging 12 points, a team-high 11 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.  The 6-foot-8 senior forward earned All-ACC Honorable Mention last season.
 
-  Seven Tigers are averaging 8.5 points or more per game.  As a team, Clemson is shooting 54 percent from the field.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  Both teams are averaging 90 points per game this season.
 
-  EKU has held its opponents to 26 percent shooting from 3-point range (10-for-39), while Clemson has hit 48 percent (23-for-48) of its attempts from behind the arc.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU and Clemson have never played before.  The last time the Colonels played in the state of South Carolina was a 95-78 victory on Dec. 2, 2020 at South Carolina-Upstate in Spartanburg.
 
-  Clemson is the first of three ACC teams the Colonels will face this season.  EKU will play at Pittsburgh on Dec. 11 and at Louisville on Dec. 28.
