RADFORD, Va. – Senior guard
Kaitlyn Costner dropped a career-high 24 points on 90 percent shooting to give EKU women's basketball its largest margin of victory against an opponent on the road in program history, defeating Radford 87-40 on Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center.
EKU's 47-point margin of victory on Saturday was the largest in program history, breaking a 43-year-old record of +46 in a road win against Xavier during the 1980-81 season.
Costner shot 9-for-10 from the floor to total a career-best 24 points, leading the Colonels in their victory. Senior forward
Raphaela Toussaint recorded 13 points going 6-for-11 from the floor while
Alice Recanati and
Mya Wardle followed with nine points apiece. Wardle knocked down three three-pointers in the win, the most of her young career.
EKU (3-3) shot 55 percent from the floor, 46 percent from beyond the arch, and 75 percent from the free throw line in the win over Radford, who only shot 21 percent (11-51) in the game. The Colonels 12 made three-pointers were the teams most since Jan. 28, 2023, against Stetson on the road.
The Colonels and Highlanders were neck and neck at 11 points apiece until the first quarter media timeout. Made threes from

Liz Freihofer, and a good jumper from
Kailani Lindsey gave the Colonels an eight-point run that ended the first 10 minutes of play with a 21-14 EKU lead.
EKU opened the second quarter with two more made threes from Wardle, Costner, and a made put back from Freihofer for a 14-2 run in the period. Recanati and Freihofer made two more threes in the frame to end a lopsided quarter, 43-21, in the Colonels' favor.
Out of the halftime break, EKU scored on seven of its first eight possessions to go up 31 points with 4:48 left on the clock in period three. The barrage from deep ensued with additional made deep shots from Wardle and Toussaint to end the period with a 33-point, 65-32 EKU advantage.
The Colonels shot 53 percent in the fourth quarter, emptying its bench with just under six minutes left in the game. Reserves

Ambah Kowcun combined for eight points on 3-of-5 shooting to push a 47-point victory over the Highlanders, who fell to 1-6 on the season with the loss.
Taylor Napper led Radford with nine points in the contest. The Highlanders were able to compete on the glass, only being out rebounded by the Colonels by two boards.
