MOBILE, Ala. – Less than one week after a 4-0 open to its season, the best since 2003, the EKU softball team heads to the South Alabama Invitational for five games this weekend at USA's Jaguar Field.

The Colonels will begin its five-game weekend slate with a doubleheader on Friday against Northern Illinois (11 a.m. EST) and Central Michigan (4 p.m. EST).

EKU will be back in action with another doubleheader on Saturday against CMU (12:30 p.m. EST) and host-school South Alabama in an 8 p.m. nightcap.

EKU will end the tournament with a lone game against UAB at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Fans can follow along with the action via Statbroadcast for all five games, no games at Jaguar Field will be streamed this weekend.

Last week, EKU captured the Wofford Invitational winning four straight en-route to its best start to a season since 2003.  The Colonels effort was highlighted by an 8-strikeout perfect game by freshman RHP Maddi Rutan in her collegiate debut, earning Atlantic Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week honors following the performance.

Additionally, EKU pitchers combined for a 0.70 earned run average while striking out 23 batters.  Rutan and Victoria Byrum ended the tournament with 2-0 records and sub-one ERAs.

Offensively, EKU out-hit its opponents 40 to 18, including two home runs from senior Jasmine Miller and four other Colonels ending the week with a .400 or better batting average.
