Colonels Fall In Game Two Of Season-Opening Series Against No. 15 Auburn

Box Score

AUBURN, Ala.
- EKU baseball dropped the second game of its season-opening series against No. 15 Auburn, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Junior transfer Ryker Walton had a solid Colonel debut out of the bullpen in the loss, allowing only one hit through four and two-thirds innings of work with three strikeouts.

The tall right-hander retired the first eight Tiger batters he faced.

DJ Sullivan led the Colonels in hitting, going 2-for-4 on the day from the lead-off spot with two doubles and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonels threatened early as DJ Sullivan doubled to right-center to begin the game, followed by a walk drawn by Justin Carinci.

EKU could not capitalize; however, as the Tigers recorded a strikeout followed by a 6-4-3 double play to end the opportunity.

In the second inning, EKU got runners on first and second again before Auburn turned another double play.

Auburn scored first in the third with a two-out, two-RBI triple followed by a two-run home run to go up 4-0.

Two innings later, the Colonels got on the board as Sullivan was credited with a double down the left field line that scored Santiago Peralta from second, bringing the score to 4-1.

In the seventh, EKU worked the bases loaded with two outs but was kept from scoring on a fielder's choice to end the half-inning.

Auburn tacked on two more runs, one in the seventh and one in the eighth, to push the score to its final 6-1.

UP NEXT
EKU (0-2) will finish its series with No. 15 Auburn (2-0) tomorrow, with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. ET.
