Colonels Host North Alabama Thursday

RICHMOND, Ky. – With just two regular season home games remaining, Eastern Kentucky University will host North Alabama on Thursday at Baptist Health Arena.
 
The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.  The live radio broadcast of the game is available in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, or worldwide on EKUSports.com.
 
Thursday will be Rave Night at the arena.  Light up foam cheer sticks will be given away at the game.
 
THE COLONELS
-  The Colonels (15-11, 10-2 ASUN) are coming off a 75-65 road win at Bellarmine on Saturday and remain in first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference by one game over Stetson.  EKU has won two straight and four of its last five games.
 
Michael Moreno (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Isaiah Cozart (17 points, 10 rebounds), both posted double-doubles against Bellarmine.  It's the second time this season two Colonels had double-doubles in the same game.
 
-  In conference games only, EKU is hitting 41.9 percent of its 3-point attempts.  No other ASUN team is shooting 40 percent or better from long distance against league foes.
 
-  Leland Walker is 11th in the ASUN in scoring (15.27 ppg), fourth in free throw percentage (83.5 percent), fifth in assists (4.27 apg), sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.76), 10th in field goal percentage (43.8 percent) and 13th in steals (1.12 spg).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  North Alabama is 13-14 overall and 7-6 in the ASUN.  The Lions are sixth in the conference standings, just one game out of a tie for third.  UNA has lost two of their last three, including at home to Austin Peay (87-79) on Saturday.   
 
- Jacari Lane, a 6-foot sophomore guard, leads the team with an average of 15.1 points and 4.0 assists per game.  He has averaged 21.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists the last two games, while shooting 52 percent from the field.
 
-  Damian Forrest contributes 10 points and a team-best 7.9 rebounds per game.  The 6-foot-9 senior forward is shooting 61 percent on the season.
 
-  North Alabama averages 76.9 points per game and allows 75.9.  The Lions are shooting 45 percent from the field.
 
INSIDE THE MATCH-UP
-  In ASUN games only, North Alabama (33.1 percent) and EKU (34.0 percent) are the top two teams in 3-point percentage defense.
 
-  North Alabama is tied for the ninth fewest 3-pointers in the ASUN at 7.67 per game.  The Lions made just five three's against EKU in the first game between the two teams this season.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU holds a 3-2 edge in the series.  The Colonels have won two straight over the Lions and are 2-1 against UNA in games played in Richmond.
 
-  In the first meeting this season, the Colonels picked up an 81-72 victory in Florence on Jan. 13, 2024.  Moreno scored a team-best 17 points, hitting 5-of-7 from 3-point range.  Cozart recorded a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 11 rebounds.  The Colonels grabbed an early 13-5 lead, but the Lions righted the ship temporarily and closed the gap to two, 17-15, on a jumper from Lane.  EKU answered with a 16-4 run that changed the game.  Lane led all players with 19 points.  The Colonels shot 47 percent (8-for-17) from behind the 3-point arc.  EKU held UNA to 37 percent shooting and the Lions made just 5-of-21 from deep (24 percent).
