RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (6-3, 0-0 ASUN) looks to stay undefeated at home when they face off against Northern Kentucky (0-3, 0-0 Horizon) at 1:00 p.m. and Georgetown College (Ky.) (1-1, 0-0 MSC) at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
THE COLONELS
EKU enters the match with a 6-3 record, as they swept their last doubleheader against Butler and Lindsey Wilson on Feb. 3. EKU owns a 6-0 at the Greg Adams Tennis Center this season.
The Maroon and White are led by
Moritz Mayer, who boasts a 7-2 mark in singles play this season. He beat Georgia's Miguel Perez Pena in singles play, who is the No. 43 singles player in the country, as it was the highest-ranked singles win in program history. The Eutingen, Germany product won the ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week twice.
Fernando Bulnes has a 5-2 record in singles play this season from the No. 3 court, winning three straight matches.
Bulnes and
Evzen Holis are the leading pair in doubles, as they have a 5-0 mark from the top two spots in the lineup.
SCOUTING NORTHERN KENTUCKY
Northern Kentucky enters the contest with a 0-3 mark, losing to No. 11 Kentucky, No. 2 Ohio State, and Xavier. Nick Nienhaus, Josef Zapletal, and Santiago Casamayor won their singles matches against Xavier. The Norse won two matches against EKU in 2023, but the Colonels lead the all-time series 12-3.
SCOUTING GEORGETOWN COLLEGE (Ky.)
Georgetown College (Ky.) enters the match with a 1-1 record, beating Freed-Hardeman by a score of 6-1 on Oct. 7. The Tigers are led by Maxcene Barriere in singles, as he is ranked No. 29 in the latest ITA NAIA singles rankings. The Colonels own a 12-3 record in the all-time series, beating the Tigers 9-0 in their last matchup in 2011.
