RICHMOND, Ky. - The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team (8-3, 0-0 ASUN) swept a doubleheader against Northern Kentucky (0-4, 0-0 Horizon) by a score of 5-2 and Georgetown College (Ky.) (1-2, 0-0 MSC), 6-1, on Wednesday at the Greg Adams Tennis Center. The Colonels are tied for the most wins in the country with No. 1 Ohio State, No. 16 Michigan State, and Navy. EKU is also tied for the best home record in the nation (8-0) with No. 1 Ohio State and Navy.
To begin the dual match against NKU, the Norse won from the top two courts in doubles to claim the doubles point.
Evzen Holis won his singles match from the No. 2 spot after his opponent retired in the second set.
Moritz Mayer earned a straight-set victory in singles play from the No. 4 court, 6-3, 6-2.
Fernando Bulnes won his singles match from the No. 3 position, 6-2, 7-5.
Paul-Antoine Brazet clinched the win for the Colonels from the No. 5 court, 6-3, 6-4.
On court six,
Kristoffer Stahlbrand took the win in his singles match in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.
To begin the dual match against Georgetown College,
J.Anurag Reddy and Stahlbrand won their doubles match from the No. 3 court with a score of 6-2.
Mario Monclus Martin and Mayer earned a win from the No. 2 spot, 7-5.
Mayer won his seventh straight singles match in straight sets from the No. 2 court, 6-0, 6-1.
Reddy won his fourth singles match of the season from the No. 4 position, 6-4, 6-0.
Brazet clinched the match for the Colonels, winning in straight sets from the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-4.
Holis won his singles match against the No. 29 singles player in the NAIA in a three-set thriller from the top court, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
Kitchin earned a straight-set victory from the No. 5 position, 6-2, 6-2.
