RICHMOND, Ky. – Isaiah Cozart broke Eastern Kentucky University's career blocks record in a 90-82 victory over visiting Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday at Baptist Health Arena.

With four seconds left in the first half, Cozart blocked a 3-point attempt by Franco Miller Jr. It was his third block of the game and 178th of his career, surpassing Nick Mayo's record of 177.

Cozart finished with his 10th double-double of the season, scoring 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to go along with four blocks in the game.
With the win, the team also gave head coach
A.W. Hamilton his 100th victory at EKU.

An early second half run fueled EKU's win. After Isaiah Thompson tied it for FGCU, 43-43, with a jumper at the 19:07 mark, the Colonels (13-10, 9-1 ASUN) engineered a 10-2 run to seize control.

Cozart started the run with a put-back and a free throw. He added another put-back and
Devontae Blanton capped it with a traditional 3-point play of his own. His free throw with 17:01 to go made it an 8-point game, 53-45.

A 3-pointer from the left corner by
Collin Cooper pushed the advantage to 11, 63-52.Â
Tayshawn Comer's 3-pointer from the left wing stretched the margin to 14, 70-56, with 10:28 remaining.

The Colonels took their largest lead of 17, 78-61, on a 3-pointer from the top of the key by
Michael Moreno with 7:40 showing on the clock.

The Eagles (10-15, 4-6 ASUN) rolled off 11 unanswered to close the gap to six, 78-72, with 4:42 to go. Rahmir Barno connected on a lay-up and a free throw with 1:32 to play get the visitors within five, 87-82, but Colonels didn't allow another point.

Blanton had 24 points, four assists and two rebounds.Â
Leland Walker finished with 12 points and four assists. Comer had nine points and six assists.

Thompson led FGCU with 17 points.

EKU shot 65 percent from the field in the second half and 60 percent for the game. The Colonels were 11-for-20 (55 percent) from 3-point range. The Eagles hit 47 percent of their shots, but made just 6-of-15 from behind the arc.

The Colonels will take to the road to face Stetson on Saturday. Tip-off in Deland, Florida is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. ET.
