BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Riding a six-game winning streak, EKU softball prepares to battle Western Kentucky in a midweek tilt on Wednesday afternoon at the WKU Softball Complex.

EKU (16-4) is coming off two wins over Central Connecticut at home where the Colonels shutout the Blue Demons 25-0 in 10 innings. Last weekend's victories marked EKU's sixth straight win on the season and pushed the Colonels' home winning streak to 12.
With EKU's wins over CCSU, the Colonels jumped from No. 117 to No. 82 in the NCAA NET rankings, the team's highest ranking since 2021.
Freshman infielder
Kennedy Drafton leads EKU and the Atlantic Sun Conference with a .469 batting average, she went 4-for-6 from the plate against CCSU with two doubles and five RBIs.
She went a career-best 4-for-4 from the plate in game one of the doubleheader.
Upperclassmen
Madison Scott and
Vianna Barron ended Sunday's doubleheader with two multi-hit performances, improving their season averages to .409 and .359, respectively.
Barron and
Maggie Pertee hit homeruns over the Blue Devils, extending EKU's ASUN-leading total to 13.
Freshman two-way player
Maddi Rutan earned a win over CCSU to improve to 8-2 from the circle this season. The Columbus, Indiana native leads EKU with a 1.21 ERA and 48 strikeouts over 58.0 innings pitched.
Rutan has thrown four shutouts in 12 appearances this season, which ranks seventh in the NCAA.
Western Kentucky (15-7-1) is coming off a series win over New Mexico State on the road last week. The Hilltoppers are 7-2 at home this season with shutout wins over Detroit Mercy and Dayton.
Offensively, WKU is led by freshman infielder Morgan Sharpe, who leads the club with an even .500 batting average with 38 hits, four doubles, two triples, and 17 RBIs over 23 games played.
After Wednesday's midweek tilt, EKU is set to face defending ASUN Champion Central Arkansas on the road to open conference play. The Colonels have won two of their last three conference series over Jacksonville State and Bellarmine.
