No. 5 Seed EKU Falls at No. 3 Seed Central Arkansas in ASUN Semifinals

Walker Leads All Scorers with 19 Points

CONWAY, Ark. – The No. 5 seeded EKU women's basketball team drops a tough contest to No. 3 seed Central Arkansas in the Atlantic Sun Conference semifinals by a score of 68-57 on Tuesday night inside the Farris Center.
 
With the loss, EKU (22-11, 9-7 ASUN) concludes its time in the ASUN Women's Basketball Tournament advancing to the semifinals for the first time as a member institution in the league.
 
Antwainette Walker led all scorers with 19 points going 9-of-21 from the floor.  Ivy Turner scored 13 while Jasmine McGinnis-Taylor scored 10 points with 14 rebounds, her fifth career double-double.
 
The Colonels shot 33 percent from the floor, 10 percent from beyond the arch, and 48 percent from the free throw line.  EKU never led in Tuesday's game, however, cut the deficit to just two points with 6:20 left in the fourth quarter.
 
EKU's 48 percent mark from the charity stripe was its third lowest total of the season, the Colonels shot 12-of-25 from the spot.
 
Central Arkansas (21-10, 11-5 ASUN) advances to the ASUN Championship with a date against No. 1 seed FGCU in Fort Myers on March 16th.  
 
Three Sugar Bears scored in double-figures on Tuesday night, led by ASUN Sixth Player of the Year Kinley Fisher who scored 17 points on 5-of-9 shooting and a perfect 7-for-7 showing from the free throw line.
 
UCA ended Tuesday's game shooting 85 percent (17-20) from the free throw line while narrowly out-rebounding EKU 41 to 40.
 
Tuesday's loss marked EKU's 33rd game of the year, the most games played in a single season in program history.  EKU secured a 20-win season for the first time since 2005 while winning 10 road games for the first time in program history.
